Private foundation Scholarships (Scholarships by Private Foundations)　

There are two types of applications for privately-funded scholarships: the one through SOKENDAI and the other directly by the applicant.
As application methods differ depending on each scholarship foundation, please read the application guidelines carefully.

List of Scholarships by Private Foundations

Private foundation Scholarships －Direct Application－

Anyone can apply for the scholarship as long as he/she meets the qualification set by the scholarship foundation. Applicants can obtain the information of scholarship via the university or can contact the scholarship foundation by themselves. Applicants are required to make an application on their own.

Private foundation Scholarships －University Recommendation－

Some of the scholarships require applicants to be recommended by SOKENDAI. The university will inform you of application guidelines through the department office as needed. If we receive more application than the fixed number, we will screen the application documents in the university and select nominees.
Please note that once you are selected for the scholarship by the university, you will not be selected for other scholarships which require recommendation of university until the notification of result is announced.
In principle, once you are selected for a scholarship recipient based on university recommendation, you are not allowed to decline the scholarship. Therefore, if you consider applying for more than one scholarship, please read the application guidelines thoroughly and apply for it after careful consideration.
